EUR versus the GBP

The latest sudden reduction in the value of the GBP has produced, for many of us a double-edged sword.

On the one hand the strong Euro has produced hefty increases in the prices of our products from suppliers, who are based in Germany.

On the other hand a significant number of our customers are in the Euro zone, producing higher price income due to the weakness of the GBP.

On balance we at Flag Diesel have been forced to absorb our increased product costs from Europe.

We shall continue to do this until it is no longer viable. We hope the pound will resume it's original levels within the next 18 months, so that our business becomes more predictable, cost wise that is.

Most companies are going through similar problems at the moment.

Midlands Floods - Flag Diesel weathers the Storms

The owner, on returning from France, was unable to get to his house because of the flooding.
When he finally did get to see the house it was to find it partially submerged in a brew of river water, lake water, fertiliser and sewage. This was on the 22nd August.
Since then the house has been condemned and written off by the insurers, along with his wife's 3 year old Skoda Fabia.
He and his wife look forward to the day, after January now, when they can return to their new house, with another second hand car.
Meanwhile in temporary accommodation in Stourport on Severn, the business of Flag Diesel continues to operate with some delayed orders.
Now that a new computer has been acquired with a broadband connection, it is business as usual.
For those few who did nor recieve their solenoids on time we can only apologise and hope for their forbearance.
Our prices are still very competitive, with our Internatioal buyers becoming a significant factor.

Just great for any toxic liquids. Handy, clean way of emptying acquariums etc.

Just connect up a couple of hoses, determine the direction of flow from the arrow on the bulb dip one hose into the liquid to be removed, then squeeze away.

We will soon be putting general Remove/Install instructions for the more common Solenoids onto our web site.

Bear in mind that there are an increasing number of pumps coming onto the market where the Solenoid is integral to the pump and cannot normally be replaced.

As the owner of a diesel car you will appreciate the difference in cost between replacing a Solenoid and replacing the whole pump!

Check with us before ordering your Solenoid so that you get the correct one, unless you know what you need. The key factor for getting the right Solenoid is knowing the make of pump.

Don't assume that the pump fitted to your car is the one specified, as there are likely to be pump changes over the life of the make/model.

Fitting a solenoid to your car or van

Always refer to the Workshop Manual or Haynes Guide to your car.
Remove the solenoid, making a note of the numbers on the barrel and the make of pump, e.g. Lucas/CAV
Check the table on our home page to see if you can find the correct part.
If not email us at flag-diesel@siraneque.co.uk, giving us the make of pump, your car details and any numbers you can determine on the solenoid. (A picture would help also) From this we should be able to tell you the correct solenoid to fit.
We supply solenoids for most pumps and usually have them in stock.
